Ademola Alabi Popoola is a distinguished Professor of Urological Surgery within the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin. He boasts 24 years of experience in university teaching, research, and administration.
Professor Popoola has recently served as the Head of Department and has held the role of Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences. He is also an active member of various university committees, including the University Merit Award Committee.
His academic contributions are notable, with over seventy publications in esteemed platforms, which encompass journals, edited conference proceedings, and book chapters. He has adeptly supervised multiple Fellowship in Surgery dissertations, numerous MSc projects, and a singular Ph.D. thesis. Furthermore, he has been awarded several research grants throughout his career. He is an esteemed member of several professional organizations both in Nigeria and internationally, including the Faculty Boards of Surgery of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of Surgeons.
Professor Popoola has taken on the vital role of Principal Investigator for various research initiatives and grants, such as serving as the National PI for the International Registry of Men with Advanced Prostate Cancer (IRONMAN-Nigeria), the Vitamin D Intervention in Advanced Prostate Cancer, and the SUPRAMAN study, which investigates hyperphysiological levels of Testosterone in Advanced Prostate Cancer.
He maintains affiliations with several prominent institutions both within Nigeria and abroad, such as the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and the Department of Urology at Thomas Jefferson University/Hospital.
