Habeeb, Olufemi Gbenga is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin. With twelve years of experience as a teacher, trainer, and administrator, he has a strong track record in academic and professional pursuits.
He is the current Exam coordinator/officer of the Department of Surgery, and 400 level adviser for the students. He has served in various University committees and is currently serving in the Hostel Masters’ committee.
Academic Qualifications: Habeeb holds an MBBS Degree from University of Ilorin and he is also a Fellow of both the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Teaching Experience: Habeeb has a wealth of experience in teaching, having taught a variety of courses including [Haemorhage and Shock in Surgery, Principles of Blood Transfusion, Obstructive Jaundice, Management of Adrenal diseases, Blunt and Penetrating Abdominal Injuries, and many more. He is known for employing innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning.
Research Interests/Publications: Habeeb is passionate about Surgical Endocrinology, Breast and Surgical Oncology. He is currently involved in several research projects, including Synopsis of Complications post thyroidectomy and Scope of presentation of Malignant Goitres. He has been involved in more than 30 publications in academic journals, conference proceedings.
Professional Affiliations: Habeeb is an active member of NMA, MDCAN, NAMDA and ASON.
Publications: Habeeb has authored numerous publications, including; Surgical site infection after gastrointestinal surgery in high-income, middle-income, and low-income countries: a prospective, international, multicentre cohort study; Global variation in postoperative mortality and complications after cancer surgery: a multicentre, prospective cohort study in 82 countries and many more. His work has been published in prestigious journals and has been cited by other scholars.
Service: Habeeb has made significant contributions to the University of Ilorin and the sister teaching hospital through his service on various committees and administrative boards. He has also been actively involved in community service initiatives.
